Microsoft Azure to offer Linux and easier deployment

Posted Jun 2012

Microsoft's cloud platform was reborn yesterday, adding a bunch of new features including Linux VM support and super easy deployment from just about any development platform.

In a live presentation Microsoft VP Scott Guthrie showed just how easy it is to deploy sites from within Visual Studio or even the command line on a Mac.

Azure also supports the same VHD format used throughout other Microsoft products like Windows Server to enable easy relocation of cloud server instances to local servers or other providers.
